Distrilbution of Leucine-Enkelhalin, Substance P, Cholecystokinin Octapeptide Immunoreactivity in the Septal Region of the Rat
Cho Hee-Jung

Abstract
In order to investigate the distribution of leucline-enkephalin, substance P, cholecystokinin octapeptide in the rat septum, brains of the rats perfused with fixative were extripated, froz en sectioned and processed for peroxidase-antiperoxidase technique.
The results obtained were as follows.
A dense flexus of axons containing leucine-enkephalinimm-unoreactivity was found in the lateral side of the intermediate lateral septal nucleus, and immunoreacitive perikaryas were scattered in the medial half of this nucleus.
Substance P-like immunoreactive perikarya and axons were distributed in the dorsal lateral septal nucleus and a portion of the intermediate lateral septal nucleus just lateral to the medial septal nucleus. In addition, a collection- of immunoreactive processes was also found in the intermediate lateral septal nucleus.
Cholecystokinin octapeptide-like immunoreactive axons were found in the basal nucleus of stria terminalis, medial portion of the nucleus accumbens, the ventral lateral septal nucleus and ventricular side of the intermediate lateral septal nucleus.
